Brief Information

Josephine, originally from Vanuatu, has over sixteen years of experience in the field of development and human rights in the non-government and government sector in Vanuatu. Some of the achievements of human rights work in Vanuatu that Josephine contributed included supporting the Vanuatu NGOs to submit Vanuatu’s first CEDAW shadow report to the UNCEDAW committee in 2007 and assisting the Vanuatu government to formally establish the Vanuatu National Human Rights Committee in 2013 through the Council of Ministers approval. Josephine’s current focus of work at the Human Rights and Social Division is supporting the management and implementation of the Pacific People Advancing Change Program (PPAC) that strengthen civil societies advocacy, supports the mainstreaming of People Centred Approaches with other SPC divisions and support civil society Universal Periodic Reporting. Josephine holds a Bachelor of Honours (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Human Services from Griffith University, Australia. She has a Graduate Diploma in Not for Profitable Management from Unitec Institute of Technology in New Zealand and a Diploma in Youth Development Work from the University of the South Pacific. She recently submitted her thesis for a Master of Social Policy at the University of the South Pacific in May 2021.
