Brief Information

Neomai is one of the advisors within the HRSD team. Her work includes providing support and technical advice to Pacific countries on meeting their human rights commitments and also supporting in the development of legislation, policy, and its implementation.  She also works with the team supporting the work on access to justice and capacity building with the justice sector. In addition, Neomai also has a focus on ensuring that Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Gender Expression are mainstreamed within the Division’s work. She has over 10 years’ experience in the areas of human rights and development, and violence against women in both Fiji and the Pacific region. Prior to joining SPC, Neomai was a Human Rights Training Officer with the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement, with a specific focus on women’s human rights in Fiji, as well as building capacity of women across Fiji on the law and access to justice particularly in the area of Family Law. Neomai initially began her career in private practice in Fiji. She holds a Masters in Diplomacy and International Affairs, and a Bachelor Degree in Law and Professional Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of the South Pacific. Neomai is a Fijian National.
