Brief Information

William has vast professional experience as a lawyer and human rights advocate. He holds a Masters in Law (LLM) from Monash University in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia), Professional Diploma in Legal Practice (PLDP), Professional Diploma in Legal Drafting (PDLD), Postgraduate in Gender Studies and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the University of the South Pacific. William has over 8 years’ professional experience and has worked in various sectors in the areas of human rights and development particularly: access to justice / legal aid; gender-based violence, women’s rights, gender equality and social inclusion. Prior to joining HSRD, William has worked as Manager Legal at Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre (FWCC) leading the legal team and prior to this held the position as Senior Legal Officer (SLO) for Legal Aid Commission and Officer in Charge (OC) leading the whole Ba Legal Aid Commission division. With his in-depth experience in gender equality and human rights, William is also very passionate about providing safe spaces, human rights awareness and social inclusion for the marginalized sectors particularly the rights of the non-heteronormative community/ non-binary community (LGTQI+), ending all forms of violence against women and girls (EVAWG), women’s rights, rights of persons with disabilities and the elderly community.
