Gabriella is the Social Inclusion Adviser and PYEEEP Project Manager within the HRSD division. She is passionate about empowering those who are most vulnerable within society and believes strongly in the change that can be affected through education, advocacy and policy. This is evidenced by her career where she has worked both nationally and internationally to advocate for and progress the rights of marginalised communities.
Gabriella holds a Masters in Human Rights Law and Policy and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in history and international relations, both from the University of New South Wales in Australia. Gabriella has expertise in human rights and holds vast experience including recent experience working in disability and inclusion, child protection, and gender within the Pacific. Her work in international development and human rights law and policy, includes work within the fields of Indigenous law, refugee law, women’s rights and the rights of the child and youth development. She has worked in organisations including Red Cross and Amnesty International, and headspace National Youth Mental Health Foundation and has been based internationally in Tuvalu and India.
Prior to joining SPC Gabriella was working as an Accessibility and Inclusion Advisor at the University of Wollongong, and prior to that role was engaged as a Technical Advisor under the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in the Government of Tuvalu. This work involved research, consultation and analysis to shape the design of effective, targeted policies and programs that addressed not only child rights but mental health, gender, social inclusion and human rights. Gabriella is originally from Australia but now calls Fiji home.
