A qualified lawyer, Julie Bukikun is now leading the Women in Leadership (WIL) initiative at the Pacific Community (SPC), building on more than 15 years of experience at the United Nations (UN), in leadership roles with UN Women and UNDP in Papua New Guinea.  

Julie’s career began as a commercial and corporate lawyer before streaming into the development sector specialising in governance and gender equality.  Julie has extensive experience providing technical and advisory support to the government, civil society groups and women’s groups on governance, institutional strengthening and advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment. She also has several years of experience working on parliamentary support, peacebuilding and elections. Julie holds a master degree on International Commercial Law from the University of Nottingham, United kingdom.
