Lanita comes from the Solomon Islands and dreams of an equal, equitable, inclusive and sustainable blue Pacific. She has over thirteen years’ experience in the aid development sector and started her career with the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI). Having experienced the impacts of the ethnic violence that took place in the Solomon Islands, Lanita has since had the urge to start a career in gender equality, governance, law and justice, project management, human development and more recently human rights, child protection and youth inclusion.
Lanita currently leads the Pacific Girl programme, the only initiative in the Pacific region that focuses on enhancing the rights of adolescent girls, with a whole of community approach. Through her work, she supports civil society organisations across the region to educate, empower and enhance the voices of adolescent girls. Lanita has a background in hospitality, human resources and project management.
