Deputy Director

Tara Chetty is the Human Rights and Social Development (HRSD) division Deputy Director, a new role that commenced in June 2024. As Deputy Director, she works closely with the Director to ensure technical excellence of the Division, supporting colleagues to advance human rights, gender equality and social inclusion outcomes in partnership with Pacific Island governments and civil society. 

In her previous role as Manager Programmes, she provided technical support to the Pacific Women Lead programme at SPC. Tara previously worked for feminist and human rights organisations in Fiji for over 10 years, on policy reform, regional advocacy, sexual and reproductive rights, and young women’s leadership.  

She holds a Master of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies from Rutgers University and is a Fulbright alumnus. Tara is from Suva, where she’s currently learning new things about gender and human rights from her nine-year-old gamer and his eleven-year-old sister.
