GESI Adviser 

Uieta Kaufusi is a proud Tongan woman currently based at the Tonga Ministry of Internal Affairs Women’s Affairs and Gender Equality as the GESI Adviser for PWL at SPC. She is married with 3 children and is an advocate for women – specifically women experiencing domestic and family violence and sexual assault, Multicultural Women and Pacific Island Women. Uieta brings with her a depth of experience in gender equality specifically in Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) and in her role she will support Tonga’s national women’s machinery in coordination and delivery of their national gender equality policy and mainstreaming efforts.  

In addition to her role within the Tongan community, she also serves on the Council for the National Harmony Alliance, the White Ribbon Indigenous reference group and the ACT Ministerial Advisory Council. Uieta is also the National Sector Engagement Manager for 1800RESPECT, the National Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Counselling service.
